  • A video interview with ATI at Macworld Expo

    By Nick Canfield

    Intro was updated 07/28/03

ATI was one of the only booths at Macworld Expo showing games and the only graphics card company present. They had just announced the Radeon 9800 Pro for the Mac and were showing it off on the Expo floor. I managed to get an interview with them about the new Radeon 9800 Pro, the state of the Expo, and their current bid for dominance in the Mac graphics card market.

I spoke with Bruno Fernandes who talked about what ATI has done on the mobility side. The Mobility Radeon 9600 is available on the PC side, so the technology is there, but we'll just have to see if Apple will choose to use it in their laptops at some point. In addition Bruno Fernandes talked about ATI's competition with nVidia for Mac dominance.

Finally, Bruno introduced Chris Bentley, the leader of ATI's 3D Mac Driver team. He talked at length about the capabilities and applications of the Radeon 9800 Pro, and even showed me some great demos. Enjoy the interview.
