If you want to take your SIMs to the next level, you need the second expansion pack for this hugely popular games. Your SIMs will have all sorts of new stuff to do, and you will waste many more hours of your life.
Installation:
Installation is quite simple. After you have the full version of The SIMs installed, just run the installer for Livin' Large. Pick where your installation of The SIMs is, and install.
Usage:
There are many new features that this expansion pack brings to your SIMs. A ton of new stuff ranging from jobs, to objects, to skins breathes new life into this game. However, I think it could have been done just a little better.
One of the main changes is the addition of 4 extra neighborhoods. The extra four look exactly like the first one, with the same plots of land. You can have a separate neighborhood for every person in your house, but the people in each neighborhood can only interact with other people in that same neighborhood. This would have been a much better inclusion if everyone could interact with each other.
Beyond that, most of the new stuff is very well done. Livin' Large brings you a bunch of new skins to play with, meaning your people can look even more different than before. Plus, when they converse with each other, they have new options including one to move into another person's house. This is a very cool addition.
The extra number of objects is a major plus. Dozen of things like pool tables, pets, robot maids, and vibrating beds make it so your SIMs houses can be much cooler. One of my favorite new additions is the genie lamp. Rub the lamp, and a genie will perform some random magic spell that could burn the house down, give you a boatload of money, or bring happiness to the lives of your SIMs. Fun for the whole family!
To go along with these new objects are new house construction materials. Wall papers, floor coverings, outside walls, doors, windows, and everything else involved in building your houses has been updated. No longer will you build bland houses. Instead, build a castle, a fantasy house, or a futuristic house. It's up to you.
But, not all the updates are so happy. If you get a pet, they will poop all over your house and possibly get you sick. If you're people get sad, and you have the right settings, you will get a sad clown that will depress your SIMs even further. If you don't keep your house clean, groups of cockroaches will arrive making your house run over with pests. Along with all the new additions comes new responsibilities, handle them wisely.
Finally, something the orignal SIMs game should have had, is included with this expansion pack. Your SIMs can take on a variety of new jobs including Hacker, Musician, Journalist, Slacker, or Psychic. A variety of jobs brings new personalities to your SIMs. While there are some many more jobs that should be included, this is a start.
Problems:
Both times I installed Livin' Large, I had to reinstall The SIMs to get it working. I'm not sure if this was because of extra objects I installed, old neighborhoods, or whatever caused it. But after a reinstall, it worked just fine.
Conclusion:
If you like playing The SIMs, you'll love this expansion pack. With new jobs, new items, more neighborhoods, and a greater number of add-ons available, you'll spend days playing this game when you should really be working.
